Ountarde, also known as Hunter, is an enemy in The Messenger. It is based on the mythological Kappa demon from Japanese folklore. Ountarde's Picnic Panic counterpart is the Croustarde.
Profile[]
Appearance[]
Ountarde is a red turtle-like monster that stands upright on two legs. It has two long pointy horns on its head that curve slightly up, and it has a turtle shell on its back. Ountarde's arms are extended outward in front of it, its long pointy claws spread out as if it's about to grab something. It wears a loincloth.
Abilities[]
Ountarde runs forward in one direction without stopping, jumping when it reaches the edge of a ledge. After it runs the gamut of the room, it disappears into a wall (presuming it has not already run into its death via a pit or spikes).
Trivia[]
The Ninja Gaiden II enemy that was the inspiration for Ountarde.
- Ountarde's enemy behavior is based off of the enemy behavior of one of the unnamed enemies in Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos. This unnamed enemy runs at the player with a knife and automatically jumps at pitfalls.[1]
- Ountarde's toy description refers to a single Ountarde who appears during the third Evil Manfred chase sequence in Cloud Ruins.
